Rules & Terms

The main requirements for Italian and international short films for admission to the competition are maximum duration of 15 minutes; the short films must be audiovisual products resulting from workshops carried out in compulsory schools; the short films must be the result of educational projects aimed at children aged 6 to 15 which involve the children themselves in the conception and production; the short films must be made by children or young people organized into working groups with specific tasks to create a real film crew, i.e. a set of professional, technical and artistic figures who work in synergy; short films must be made by enhancing the peculiarities of the medium and cinematographic language (editing, shooting plans, color correction, etc.).

Each video must be sent to contest@balossmilanfilmfest.it in .mov or .mp4 file format, downloadable via link, together with the following documentation: Synopsis (max 10 lines), complete credits (actors, operators, music, etc.), exact duration including opening and closing credits, presentation of the proposing subject and of the educational project in which the short film nominated for the competition fits; two still images of the short film (.jpg format 1920 x 1080 pixels, 150 dpi); a .jpg format image used to promote the short film for a poster or social post (A4 size at 300 dpi and 1080 x 1080 pixels at 150 dpi respectively); audio-video release signed by the person in charge of the short film which releases Circonvalla Film from any liability towards third parties.

Registration consists of sending the short film, the material, and the data required by the aforementioned platform and by these terms by 15 March 2024.By registering a work to the Festival, the participant declares to have obtained consent from all the holders of any right to the work, and in particular the specific consent to be able to submit the registration application for the screening of the work at the festival. The Balóss Milan Film Festival, at its sole and absolute discretion, may refuse any registration that is deemed not to comply, in whole or in part, with these terms or with what is required by the registration platform. For the work to be admitted to Balóss, its production must be completed no earlier than 1 January 2022. Once sent, the registration cannot be withdrawn, except for serious and documented reasons which must in any case be examined by the management of Balóss Milan Film Festival.
