“We are women, remember, we cannot fight against men.” The action starts with this sentence from Ismene to Antigone: violating the law imposed by Creon and defending her brother Polynices. It is not just a struggle against an unjust law, but an affirmation of a woman’s dignity against a power that denigrates, time and again, her being a woman.
Told in language equal to the most award-winning TV detective series, this rewriting of Sophocles’ “Antigone” places the story in a school setting while addressing, as a cross-cutting issue, the sensitive topic of bullying and offering a broader reflection on the theme of justice.
“I was not born to share hate, but love” is Antigone’s response to Creon’s constant harassment-a message of love to silence all forms of violence.
